LSERC Social Calendar

Being renowned for having one of the biggest social calendars of an LSE sporting club, our social calendar is just as involved as our training program. At LSERC, we have something for everyone- from club breakfasts to balls and even an international trip!

Post-Club Circuits Fourth Floor Breakfasts

Who doesn’t love a wholesome team breakfast after a round of bonding over Tuesday circuits. Located at the fourth floor cafe in the LSE Old Building, our team breakfasts are a great way to get all the squads together at the start of the week.

Wednesday Socials

Usually starting with 'pres' at a committee member's flat, the club then heads to Sway to join the rest of LSE's sports teams. Standing apart from most other sports clubs though, by joining rowing you’ll get to experience many different areas of London rather than just starting the night at Shakespeare’s Head!

Club Dinners

Once or twice a term we also mix in Club Dinners to our Wednesday Social. Located at the heart of Brick Lane, you surely will fall victim to our infamous 'fines' at some point during the year. Normally at the 'Standard Balti', we'll be looking to branch out and try some different cuisines this year!

AU Events

LSE also hosts a number of one off events for the year, including the notable AU Carol, AU Fight Night and AU Ball. You will find that being a member of LSE Rowing will fundamentally transform your experience at the events. For example, dressing up in line with the club’s theme for Carol (last year we did Mario-themed)

International Trip

Every year LSERC make a point of visiting another country, not only to soak in new experiences, but also test ourselves on foreign shores at international regattas. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get a race in at this year's trip to Porto but we are determined to make up for it in 2023-24.

Charity Fundraising Events

From participating in Movember to our notorious 24-hour 'Rowathon' on campus, LSERC are always keen to raise money in support of a good cause. We recently partnered with several other LSE AU Clubs to celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month in aid of Stonewall. We also get involved with the LSESU's 'This Girl Can' week by holding women-only events and training sessions.

Post-Race and Training Socials

To reward ourselves for a hard training session or race, we often arrange pub or breakfast socials. We also encourage members who weren't racing to come along in support of our racing crews and to join in celebration afterwards! We are also looking to organise more events for both members and alumni to spectate at larger events, such as Henley Royal Regatta.

It is worth noting the club is fundamentally committed to representing all members, just because you may not drink or the clubbing scene is not for you - don’t think for one second you're going to be left out! The club prides itself on its family community, and has a wide range of social activities that all will enjoy. We want to emphasise there is no expectation or pressure to ‘drink’ as seen at some universities/societies, LSERC is a diverse community, which we have found makes us truly unique.
